My passion is helping Cambodian girls stay in school. As a Khmer-American women, I have experienced personally what it’s like to grow up in a culture where young girls are trained to be housewives. There have been small advancements made, but social norms and cultural expectations of girls are slow to change.
You and I can make a difference. As a long time supporter of Caring for Cambodia and it's gender equity program, I know that your donations and participation change lives! Each time I visit the schools in Siem Reap, I see real changes -- the campus is lively with smiles, and the whole felt sense is more than just surviving. Our communities have emerged as thriving. It's invigorating to see that out of the dust of the Khmer Rouge, these public schools are revived through the support of CFC. Yet there is much work to be done. A small effort to give a little of ourselves makes a huge difference in their lives.
